ENGINEERING DESIGN CHALLENGE
A Race Against the Clock for the Best Design
Weekly challenges where groups of students are given identical sets of materials and asked to create the best design. Challenges include:
- Create the tallest tower from spaghetti and mini marshmallows.
- Create a boat to hold the most capacity from straws and plastic wrap.
- Create the strongest rope from a roll of toilet paper.
DESKTOP WHITEBOARDS
Collaborative Non-Permanent Surfaces
Desk "Whiteboards" attached to each desk that can be flipped onto/off of desk. Used for collaborative learning and group problem solving during lessons. Students use the whiteboards to work on practice problems incorporated into the note-taking periods. Informal assessment is easily received from the work shown on the whiteboards.
